Mission: Trajectory of Hope takes an anti-racist, pro-Black approach in working with K-12 schools by:
Facilitating space for critical reflection and dialogue with educators to shift individual and group schemas to uproot racist ideologies that impact Black students and their families.
Holding space at school for Black families to unpack their lived experience in community with other Black families to cultivate an environment that is affirmative of Black identity and culture.
Gathering critical perspective data from Black families, students and educators to generate a race-equity analysis of school policies/processes and a blueprint for radically centering the Black family in order to rectify historical exclusion, segregation and marginalization.
Vision: Trajectory of Hope desires to create a more just and racially equitable society.
When racial equity is achieved,
- School culture will reflect and affirm Black families.
- Schools will intentionally cultivate communal spaces for Black families, who see the school community as the village that waters the soul of their children.
- The perspectives of Black families will inform the design of school policies and structures, to create an environment where Black students thrive.
- Black students will be celebrated for their gifts and feel belonging in their classrooms.
- Black students will experience youth freely without being criminalized, judged or shamed.
- Every Black student will experience and exemplify joy within the school setting.
- Teachers will enact their ant-racist and pro-Black views, by partnering with Black families to support the growth and development of Black students.
- Teachers will gather together regularly to critically evaluate their practice as in alignment with their anti-racist beliefs.
- Teachers will identify inequities in school data and co-conspire to rectify them.
