We pivoted our business model during COVID so that we could survive the loss of catering income. Since then, we have blossomed into the tiny grocery store that could. Providing restaurant-quality groceries and takeaway food has been the engine propelling us forward. We have worked tirelessly every day since the shutdown in Baltimore, never closing our doors.
Many of the members of our neighborhood appreciated seeing another human face during the darkest and loneliest times of the pandemic. Our absolute wash hands policy, investment in the latest self-cleaning technology, and the limited number of people in the store have provided a safe shopping experience. They have not forgotten and joined the loving fan base of Culinary Architecture.
We are now an anchor business on Main Street that provided groceries, home goods, coffee, and baked goods - a one-stop-shop for delicious food. Not only do we offer prepared food for take-out in what was once a cafe, we also offer grocery staples, specialty, and gourmet sourced items, as well as household needs. We are a beloved in an area which is sorely lacking the business amenities that are enjoyed in other, more developed, areas in the city.
We are attempting to become a model for environmental responsibility in Baltimore City. We will feature a water and craft soda refilling station using recycled containers, Bulk refillable household cleaners, soap, and a plastic-free bulk food section. We grow we will offer a bulk compost drop-off to be recycled for our community gardens and feed for our local worm farm.
Culinary Architecture plans to put our business on the national map as an example for 21st century environmentally responsible retailing, and a great example of keeping dollars and jobs in our community as we grow.
