The purpose of any club is to bring a community together to learn about and discuss something that matters to them, and a book… Allow me to introduce the new innovative and super fun literacy club remixed into a book club named Booked It Book Club. The purpose of any club is to bring a community together to learn about and discuss something that matters to them, and a book club is no different. Booked It book clubs mission is to help children with lower reading levels, non-readers and children who have langue barriers due to English being their second language become more confident. We aim to boost their reading skills so they meet the Department of Education requirements and prevent them from being placed in special ed or getting left behind. We are solving the illiteracy concerns New York City faces. The children we service are 7-9 years young enrolled in second and third grade. We have realized children start testing between third and fourth grade and we need to help them in advance to prepare them for the future.
Education is a ladder out of poverty. But that ladder is often out of reach for low-income children. These children struggle in school in large part because they don't have the familiarity with books and language that are the building blocks of literacy. Booked It book club literacy program provides all the materials needed to have FUN as well as promote a better culture of education outside of poverty.
