My name is Gladys McDonald and I am the founder of a nonprofit organization called Are You Okay Inc. We are a registered 501(c) (3) organization that focuses on Mental Health Awareness and being a strong support for our community. Our organization encourages people t o stand in their truth and to not be afraid to talk about their feelings. Basically enabling individuals to know that it is ok to say that "I'm not okay and I need a shoulder to cry on" or "I need some guidance in my life".
Our organization has several different events throughout the year.
Annual Are You Okay Inc. Safe Zone
This event is held every year to connect with our community one on one. Are You Okay Inc. Safe Zone helps us to be able to discuss and celebrate our achievements throughout the year. All proceeds from this event go back to the community. We have special guest speakers and performances aimed at empowering, uplifting, and motivating our community.
Annual Hygiene Products for the homeless
At the beginning of each year we prepare hygiene bags for the homeless. Our homeless community is often times the group of people that are forgotten. Are You Okay Inc. is all about bringing relief to anyone in need.
Annual Back to School Event
Our Back to School Event is held every single year to help ease the financial burden that single mothers, fathers, or grandparents feel this time of year. These burdens cause feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. With donations collected throughout the year and sponsorships, we are able to take these families school shopping where we purchase school uniforms for the kids.
Annual Christmas give a ways
During the holiday Are You Okay Inc. understands how challenging this season can be for people. Contestants have to share, like, and follow all our social media pages to be able to enter to win monetary gifts to help lessen the stress that happens this time of year.
This year we would like to add to our list of events by having our very first Annual Turkey Giving on November 14th 2020. We know this year has been challenging for a lot of individuals in our community. We simply want to help and give back. Our goal is to provide turkeys or ham to about 50 families. If we are able to obtain additional funding we can reach up to 100 families. That's what Are You Okay Inc is all about, helping our community.
Are you Okay Inc. is an advocate for the community, to address the needs of people living with mental health illness, and empowering men, women, elderly and youths to identify their purpose and fulfill their divine destiny. We want to establish an atmosphere that promotes growth, self- love, and self worth. We will be the voice for the voiceless. To ensure that our community's needs are matched appropriately and resources are available.
